Jalen Hurts didn't just lead the Philadelphia Eagles to the first Super Bowl since 2017 in a 31-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

He made history as well.

In Sunday's game, Hurts threw for 121 yards on 25 attempts. He also rushed for 39 yards on seven attempts. With 43 seconds left in the third quarter, Hurts capped off a 15-play, nearly eight-minute drive, with a one-yard rushing touchdown.

It was the play that made history. With the score, Hurts passed quarterback Cam Newton for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a single season (15).

Coming into the matchup with the 49ers, Hurts was tied with Newton's 2011 record. Now, he holds the record alone.

Hurts wasn't breathtaking against the 49ers. But he was good enough. His presence on the field kept the offense humming. And with the complimentary effort from the defense, the Eagles dismantled a 49ers team that possessed the league's best defense.

Philadelphia has one more game to win. It's the biggest game of Hurts' career. Check that, it's the biggest game of anyone on the Eagles' career. So, it's fitting that on the way there, Hurts made a little more history in a season that has been historic in every sense of the word.
