The Denver Broncos are 1-0 in moral victories since Nathaniel Hackett was fired. Yeah, I know, no one likes moral victories, but, when your team is this bad and it's the end of the season, you will take anything.

The reason we are even able to call it a moral victory is because of what interim head coach Jerry Rosburg did. He had this team playing some of their best ball this season, against the best team in the league.

The Chiefs were put in a bind several times, and it wasn't just because of Denver's defense. The offense had some say too.

The Broncos made the game plan around Wilson a little more, including some designed runs, which we really haven't seen all year. All in all, they played much better on that side of the ball, and it was a collective effort.

“Well the game plan was to, quite frankly, was to play complementary football," Rosburg said after the game. "These guys heard it from me all week long and that included Russell Wilson because he is such an integral part of the offense and our whole team.

"Whatever it takes. I did not call those plays. I did not design those plays. The offensive coaches did to their credit. I thought it was a good way of getting us first downs to control the ball, to control the clock, and play with our defense and our special teams to give us an opportunity to win in the fourth quarter, which we did not.”

The future of this team, whether we like it or not, is whatever Russell Wilson can take them to. He will be the quarterback for the next few years, barring anything insane.

Even next year the game plan will be around him. Even next week the game plan will be around Wilson. He is the guy, and I think everyone knows that inside the organization.

"What does Russell do well and how can we assist him…We want to do the things that he does well and we want him to be fully bought into those things," Rosburg said. "I really believe that happened last week."

Going back to some of the things they did differently in Week 17 starts with the designed runs, one of which was a run Wilson had for a touchdown.

In the red zone, Wilson lined up in a two-back set with the extra blocking lineman on the right side (strong side). In this instance, the play was a read zone play call, in which the two receivers on the weak side block the linebackers and allow Wilson to pull the ball and take it in himself.

It was beautiful, and something the Broncos should have been doing all season long. Whoever the staff is next season, they should definitely use some more things like this, because I don't think, or at least can't remember, Hackett, drawing a designed run play for Wilson like that all year long.

Wilson is still a guy that can get the job done. He just needs the offense built around him to the way he plays best.
