The Denver Broncos are so close to fixing their franchise. They now have the guy that they think can fix their quarterback. Sean Payton has a unique resume, and he knows what he is doing, so let's see if he can do what needs to be done.

Last season went the complete opposite of what we thought would happen. We had expectations of this team making the playoffs, and if things went right, possibly competing for a Super Bowl.

None of that was even close. In fact, they finished with the fifth-worst record in the league. Which, that would have been okay if they had their own first-round pick. But, they don't.

They were great on defense, and then sucked on offense even with a new head coach who was offensive-minded and a quarterback who is easily a Hall of Famer. Yet, they had the worst offense in the league as they averaged well below 20 points per game.

But, there are things to be excited about for 2023. They have a new head coach in Payton who has won a Super Bowl and turned franchises around, and he has high praise for Wilson.

Even if it is looking like the Broncos made the wrong decision on the former Seattle Seahawk quarterback, Payton is making people think there is a chance this team can get back on top with Wilson as the guy.

"Russell is a hard worker and has played at a high level and won a lot of games in this league… I'm excited about him," Payton said.

The Broncos need this to work out desperately, and they need it to work next season. That doesn't mean they have to win a Super Bowl next year, but major improvements need to be shown. Payton seems to think he can do that.
