Chiefs expected to keep same core group of position players together

The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t expected to make any major changes to one area we thought they would.

2022 started weirdly for the Chiefs. Just two years prior they were headed to their first Super Bowl in over 50 years and actually won it. The next year, they were headed to another one. At the start of 2022, they were losing the AFC Championship game, something they hadn't done since 2018.

But, there was one other thing that made it weird. They traded away their best receiver, and possibly the best one in franchise history. In March of 2022, Tyreek Hill was heading to Miami.

That changed everything. Well, not really, but the media sure thought so. The loss of Hill made all of the national media think the Chiefs couldn't win the Super Bowl, let alone make the playoffs.

We saw how well that take went for everyone who made it.

But, while there was a ton of change this last offseason, this one won't have as much, at least not in the receiver group. When Hill left, the only receivers on the team from last season were Mecole Hardman. That's it.

But, per James Palmer of NFL Network, the Chiefs may not change a thing to their receiver group this offseason.

He reported that they will want to keep the core group and make Kadarius Toney the wide receiver one, have Skyy Moore, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and bring back Juju Smith-Schuster. Oh, and of course whoever they draft this offseason at the receiver position will be there as well.

The Chiefs like what they saw from the group last season, and I'm sure they feel like it will only get better if they keep the same group together. It's something to monitor for sure.
