Bengals met with top DL prospect at the combine
The Bengals had a formal meeting with one of the nation’s best edge rushers in Indianapolis.
No team can have too many edge rushers, and the Cincinnati Bengals are doing their due diligence to possibly add one in April's NFL draft.
Last week in Indianapolis, the NFL held its annual scouting combine. The Bengals talked to a plethora of top prospects, and one of them was Notre Dame edge rusher, Isaiah Foskey.
Foskey only played four games as a freshman in 2019. In 2020, he appeared in 12 games and racked up 20 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
In Foskey's final two years in South Bend, he was a star.
In 2021, Foskey had his best season with 52 tackles (9.5 tackles for loss), 11 sacks, six forced fumbles, and two fumbles recoveries. However, it was his 2022 campaign that got the accolades.
Foskey was named a Consensus All-American after he tallied 44 tackles (13.5 tackles for loss), 11 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
With 26.5 career sacks, Foskey holds the record at Notre Dame.
The California native has a good bend coming off the edge and even dropped into coverage at Notre Dame. Also, he has good speed which he showed at the combine by running a 4.64 in the 40-yard dash.
Foskey has the measurements to go along with it at 6'5" and 264 pounds with 34-inch arms.
The Bengals have a nice group of edge rushers in Trey Hendrickson, Sam Hubbard, and Joseph Ossai. However, the Bengals ranked 29th in sacks last season so Foskey would be a welcomed addition.
When the Bengals pick at 28 in the first round, Foskey could very well be the player whose name is called.
