Bengals may have a new problem on their hands entering Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers

The Cincinnati Bengals’ second injury report of the 2026 season is a bit longer than the first. A key starter may’ve suffered a notable injury, and that will have real implications for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Cincinnati Bengals’ second injury report of the 2026 season is a bit longer than the first.

A couple veterans had rest days. Nothing to note there.

Another key starter may’ve suffered a notable injury, and that will have real implications for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

DJ Turner II pops up at the worst time

DJ Turner II (hamstring) is the big addition here. Cincinnati’s No. 1 cornerback was limited with a hamstring injury after he wasn’t listed on the injury report at all Wednesday. This indicates it’s a new injury he suffered during Thursday’s practice, and couldn’t finish.

Turner getting hurt days before the opener is a huge deal. If he can’t play on Sunday, the Bengals will be without their top defensive back against a Bucs’ passing offense that can do damage.

Should Turner be out for Sunday, rookie Tacario Davis is the logical name to fill in his place. He was taking first-team reps for most of the last few weeks when Dax Hill was out with a hamstring injury of his own.

Friday’s injury report will be very telling as to whether or not Turner will play.

Defensive line updates

Defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and B.J. Hill each had rest days, and you can expect this to be a semi-regular occurrence throughout the season. Hill was given regular rest days last year, and Allen is in a similar part of his career at 31 years of age.

Defensive end Shemar Stewart (knee) was limited after going full Wednesday. This may’ve been planned to give him a bit of rest as he’s only been practicing for a week. Stewart missed an entire month with his hyperextended knee.
