This was certainly an interesting conversation.

When comes to the Cincinnati Bengals, quarterback Joe Burrow is the man, plain and simple.

A former Bengals player agrees with that statement.

Adam "Pacman" Jones, who played for the Bengals for eight seasons (2010-2017), was recently on the Pat McAfee show, and when asked who sits atop the quarterback hierarchy in the NFL, Jones got straight to the point.

"It's Burrow, and Mr. (Patrick) Mahomes," said Jones.

It's pretty hard to argue that at the moment.

All Burrow has done in his first two full seasons as a starter is lead the Bengals on multiple deep playoff runs.

In 2021, Burrow led the Bengals to the Super Bowl and beat Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game in the process. Last season, Burrow took the Bengals to the conference title game again, but Mahomes got his revenge (had lost three consecutive starts to Burrow).

Mahomes is the cream of the crop.

In five years as a starter, he's reached the AFC title game every season and has won three of them. Also, he's won two Super Bowls and was named the MVP of both, and that's on top of two league MVPs.

Jones wasn't so complimentary to another star quarterback in the AFC.

When McAfee brought up Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, Jones chuckled. Then, he reminded Jones about a take he gave on Herbert, and it was a doozy.

"I just said that he don't call out the line protection, he don't know who the Mike (linebacker) is, and for a guy to be the quarterback he need to be setting all of those protections," said Jones. "When I went and watched him this summer, he didn't do none of that."

Yikes, that was harsh.

I guess it's safe to say Jones isn't too impressed with the 2020 Offensive Rookie of the Year.
