The Dallas Cowboys needed some depth on the offensive line after losing starting left guard Connor McGovern to the Buffalo Bills.
On Tuesday, they did just that by signing Chuma Edoga to a one-year deal after his visit the team on Monday.
Edoga was a third-round pick of the New York Jets in 2019. He played in eight games as a rookie and started in them all, playing both left and right tackle (logged 421 snaps).
After playing in 11 games with four starts in 2020, he entered the next season as a backup tackle and appeared in five games. He would only register 99 starts in large part to being placed on injured that November.
Edoga spent the 2022 season with the Atlanta Falcons but only appeared in two games due to a knee injury that plagued him. In Week 3, he played five snaps on special teams. Week 11 was his only start, and he tallied 55 snaps at left guard.
At 6'3" and 308 pounds, Edoga provides depth at tackle in regards to Tyron Smith, Terence Steele, and Tyler Smith. He also gives the Cowboys another body at guard as well possibly behind Tyler Smith, or he could compete for the starting left guard spot depending on how things play out.
