The Dallas Cowboys hosted three free agents on Monday for visits and workouts, and they went extremely well.
After the Cowboys inked OL Chuma Edoga to a one-year deal on Tuesday morning after he met with the team, they followed up by doing the same with veteran running back Ronald Jones who was also in attendance.
Jones is most known for his work with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he spent his first four years in the NFL with them. His best outing was in 2020 when he led the Buccaneers with 978 rushing yards on 192 carries (5.1 yards per rush) and scored seven rushing touchdowns (eight total scores) while assisting them in winning the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaking of the Chiefs, Jones spent the 2022 season with them. However, he only appeared in six games with 38 offensive snaps as the fourth guy on the depth chart, but he did win another ring.
Jones is a Texas boy, playing his high school ball just 35 minutes outside of the Dallas area. The former second-round pick is eager to be back in the Lone Star State.
Ready to work and happy to be home," said Jones after getting his deal.
Jones joins Rico Dowdle as running back singings for the Cowboys on Tuesday. They will both battle Mailk Davis for roster spots and for who will back up the new RB1 in Dallas, Tony Pollard.
