The Tennessee Titans could go a number of ways in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Offensive line and wide receiver are two of the more obvious holes that need to be filled with the 11th overall pick, but it's hard to predict exactly what is being prioritized by GM Ran Carthon and head coach Mike Vrabel in this year's draft.

What if one of the top defensive prospects becomes available at 11? What if the top offensive linemen are gone by the time the Titans pick? And what about quarterback? If one of the top quarterbacks drop out of the top five, are the Titans prepared to move up and get their guy?

That's exactly what is projected in the latest mock draft from Pro Football Focus (PFF), but Titans fans may not be happy with the prediction.

Brad Spielberger of PFF predicted the Titans to make a trade up to the eighth overall pick to select former Kentucky Wildcats quarterback Will Levis.

Spielberger mocked a trade that sent picks 11, 41, and a 2024 second-round selection to the Atlanta Falcons for number 8 in an effort to box out other quarterback needy teams and land Levis. Here's an excerpt from the mock draft:

Chicago at ninth overall and Philadelphia at 10th overall are prime trade-down spots, as well, so this isn’t Tennessee jumping ahead of teams that need a quarterback necessarily; it’s them boxing out teams like New England, Washington and Tampa Bay.

Levis played through multiple injuries in 2022, but in 2021 he earned a 90.6 overall grade that ranked 10th among Power Five quarterbacks. He has the occasional errant throw that leaves you scratching your head, but he’s come a long way since serving as a dual-threat short-yardage quarterback at Penn State, flashing a quick release that packs a lot of zip. He also needs to dramatically improve on navigating pressure, but it didn’t help that his offensive line was very porous this past season.

The Titans met with Levis prior to his Pro Day and were one of the teams in attendance in Lexington to watch what the 23-year-old can do.

Levis threw for 2,406 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in his senior season at Kentucky. At his Pro Day, Levis was looking to show scouts that he is more than just an explosive arm talent, saying he was up to prove "that he has every club in the bag."

"I think I showed a little bit of everything. Whether it was on the run, layered balls, short, intermediate, deep, I threw good balls in all of them I felt like," Levis said following his Pro Day workout.

While Levis is not the prototypical, hyper-accurate quarterback that Vrabel and Carthon are seemingly drawn to, his combination of size and arm strength is eerily similar to that of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Quarterbacks coach Jordan Palmer, who coached both Allen and now Levis, said Levis is a few years ahead in his development and should have no problem fixing some of his inconsistencies as a passer.

Levis is an incredibly polarizing prospect in the upcoming draft. Some view his accuracy issues and lack of anticipation as red flags for his NFL transition, while others are bullish on his tools to be a playmaker above all else. Only time will tell what side of the aisle the Tennessee Titans are on.
