Daniel Jones went from being the but of jokes, to a QB passing the $40 million dollar per year threshold

But now, Jones has to prove he's worth every penny as the infrastructure of the team is finally adequate.

One way to do that? Get the ball to your playmakers:

Connor Orr of Sports Illustrated recently released his top 100 bold predictions for the 2023 NFL season. And while little was said about Daniel Jones, Orr made sure to slip in a thought about the Giants' newest pass-catcher:

"Giants rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt will score at least five touchdowns"

Hyatt famously told a Cowboys receivers coach what was up during the predraft process, said Orr. I’m not going to doubt the guy. Nor am I going to doubt Brian Daboll’s ability to put speed and size in space. I don’t care much how technical Hyatt’s game is. Daboll will get him the ball, and Hyatt will figure out the rest just fine.

No doubt about it. Daboll will find a way to make sure that the Giants are stretching the field, using Hyatt as the elite takeoff specialist that he is and generating explosive opportunities. And if you think that's all talk, well the Giants are already working on it according to last season's leading receiver, Darius Slayton:

"I think he's doing great," said Slayton on Daniel Jones learning to push the ball downfield more. "I think definitely walking away from last season, explosives were the thing we needed more of. I think definitely this spring it's been a conscious effort to push the ball down the field. We have all these guys, like having a bunch of Ferraris, keep them in the garage; take them out to the track. I think that's kind of been the mindset and maybe why you see a little more of the ball going down the field."

And while the discourse surrounding the wide receiver position in New York may wage on, the speed of the group can no longer be denied, given Slayton's skillset and the addition of Parris Campbell and now Jalin Hyatt:

"I like watching people fly around fast," said WR Darius Slayton told reporters at OTA's on Wednesday. "We've got a lot of them now. Parris (Campbell) was a 4.30 guy. Jeff Smith was a 4.2 guy, a low 4.3 guy. And Hyatt obviously could fly. I could fly. You turn on the film, it's a whole lot of flying. I mean, it's fun to watch, fun to play with guys like that."

While speed isn't everything at the receiver position, it certainly doesn't hurt. The Giants know they need to be more efficient and capable of creating chunk plays and have made the requisite moves to do so.

The only question left to answer:

Can Daniel Jones deliver?
