NASHVILLE — Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins paid a visit to the Tennessee Titans on Monday as he seeks his 2023 playing destination. According to multiple reports, Tennessee's time with the veteran pass-catcher went well.

Hopkins leaves Nashville without a contract agreed to, however.

This was always the expectation as Hopkins is still scheduled to take a meeting with the New England Patriots later this week. Visibly enjoying his trip to Nashville on social media, Hopkins posted images to his Instagram story of a car service taking him around Downtown Music City during the final night of the 2023 CMA Fest. Hopkins was in attendance for Sunday evening's closing act, Tim McGraw, playing the CMA stage at Nissan Stadium.

It is clear that both parties, the Titans and Hopkins, are serious about exploring a potential partnership.

Tennessee would benefit from Hopkins' skill set on the field immediately. Appearing in only nine games last season for the Arizona Cardinals due to a PED suspension, Hopkins still put together a productive season. His 64 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns were all more than any Titans wide receiver had last season.

With quarterback Ryan Tannehill at the helm and and the promise of Treylon Burks in Year 2, the impact that Hopkins would have on Tennessee's offense under coordinator Tim Kelly would be immediate and substantial.

It is a totally logical deal for both sides to do. Hopkins would give the Titans skill position groups as much, if not more, talent than any other team in the AFC South.

What might the veteran's market look like?

"Between June 1 and September 1 in the last six offseasons, the highest guarantee on any contract from a free agent standpoint was $9 million," said Mike Ginnitti of spotrac.com on Ramon, Kayla and Will on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville. "That's the number. We don't see these kind of free agents come around this time of year. So, there's a little bit of a unicorn situation happening here, but teams just don't pony up at this time of the season."

Ginnitti went on to say that he would expect a Hopkins contract to come in somewhere in the neighborhood of two years for $20 million, with $10 million guaranteed.
