The Cincinnati Bengals came together last week for linebacker Logan Wilson's first annual Celebrity Softball Game in Dayton, Ohio at Day Air Ballpark as they begin their time off before training camp at the end of July.
The defending AFC North champions have wrapped up OTAs and minicamp. As expected, some players took the next step in terms of their future with the team, while others are currently in dire straits.
Let's dive into several guys who fit the latter.
Three losers from Bengals minicamp
RB Chris Evans

Evans is a former sixth-round pick of the Bengals in 2021. It’s been a struggle for him to get snaps as he’s only logged 113 in two seasons. Evans has logged just 77 yards on 17 carries (didn’t register a single rushing attempt in 2022) along with 189 yards on 18 receptions with three touchdowns.
Unfortunately for Evans, Trayveon Williams, and rookie Chase Brown have been making plays during minicamp, keeping Evans as the fourth guy in the running back room that's led by Joe Mixon.
Evans already had an uphill battle in 2023. But seeing as he hasn't made any waves during the offseason, he might be looking for another job soon.
WR Trent Taylor

Taylor came to the Bengals two years ago also. He’s racked up 392 yards on 40 receptions over that span with almost all of that coming in 2022.
Although he had some momentum coming into the upcoming season, Taylor's seat has quite a bit of heat on it. Rookies Charlie Jones and Andrei Iosivas are making waves, meaning Taylot is in danger of being the sixth option at wide receiver which certainly doesn't guarantee a roster spot, especially in Cincinnati.
Taylor needs to have a pretty flawless training camp and he better hope that the two youngsters in front of him have some hiccups in their development.
OL Cody Ford

Ford spent three years with the Buffalo Bills before playing for the Arizona Cardinals in 2022. His position flex (can play guard and tackle) is a big reason he was brought in, and he was set to be in the mix for starting right tackle duties.
The former second-round pick has a bit of a conundrum, though. Veterans La'el Collins, who is recovering from a torn ACL, and Jonah Williams, who had surgery on his kneecap, are on track for training camp.
This puts Ford in a situation where he could be the odd man out unless he goes Super Saiyan next month at right tackle when training camp commences.
Cincinnati has its bases covered at the top of these positions. However, depth is key, and the more they can get of that the better.
Evans, Taylor, and Ford haven't done themselves any favors so far this offseason. However, as has been seen every year, training camp can be the launching pad for a turnaround in a player's status with his team.
