The NFL offseason is officially over and unfortunately, nothing signals that more than Roster Cutdown Day.

For the Green Bay Packers, there were a lot of questions heading into offseason workouts and training camp. A lot of those questions were quickly answered and even though some answers took longer to find than others – they eventually rose to the surface as the days and weeks passed.

It's important to keep in mind that, at the time of publish, the following players are either on IR or PUP, which means they wouldn't count toward the 53-man roster if the cutdown deadline were today:

  • CB Eric Stokes (PUP)
  • C Jake Hanson (IR)
  • TE Tyler Davis (IR)

Hanson and Davis will miss the entire season since they were placed on IR ahead of final cuts. Stokes will have to miss at least the first four games of the year if he starts the season on PUP.

Update: The Packers and Hanson agreed to a six-game injury settlement totaling $166,687, on Tuesday, per Ken Ingalls. He is no longer on the roster, in any capacity.

Below is an up-to-date list of the Packers' roster cuts:

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Sunday that the team probably wouldn't be making any moves until Tuesday, but that changed with Monday's news of O'Donnell's release.

Daniel Whelan, the guy who is now the Packers punter, is the first Irish NFL player to play in the league in 38 years, per Packer Report's Daire Carragher, which is pretty cool. Whelan's big leg and improved accuracy, as well as his holding ability, are what won him the job over O'Donnell.

Nichols III is the first 2023 draft pick to get cut and it's because of a shoulder injury that held him out for most of training camp and the preseason. It'll be surprising if he doesn't end up on the Packers practice squad, however.

Per Packer Central's Bill Huber, the team wants to re-sign Orzech on Wednesday, which implies someone is going on IR – most likely safety Tarvarius Moore. Per USA Today's Ryan Wood, the team wants Allen on the practice squad, so he should make a return there, as well.

Cutting Tarvarius Moore was also an interesting decision. It was logical to think the Packers would keep him on the roster so they could place him on short-term IR, but that's clearly not the case now that the two sides are expected to reach a settlement agreement. Either way, that opens the door for seventh-round rookie, Anthony Johnson Jr., to possibly make the team. Which he did.

The last surprise of the day was Emanuel Wilson making the initial 53, as crazy as that sounds. Sure, he led the NFL in rushing yards during the preseason, but at the same time, LaFleur made comments about improving his conditioning and we didn't see him pass block very much during the preseason. Still, Wilson showed enough to take the RB3 job and make it his own.

The initial 53 isn't set in stone, by any means. Be sure to keep an eye out for more potential moves, like placing players on IR, on Wednesday.
