Later this month, the Cincinnati Bengals will face the Los Angeles Rams for a rematch of Super Bowl 56, but the Rams will be without their best offensive player in Cooper Kupp.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Kupp has been placed on Injured Reserve and will miss the first four games of the season, including Los Angeles' Week 3 Monday Night Football game in Cincinnati.
Kupp has been working back from a hamstring injury and suffered a recent set back. This move will give him ample time to fully heal before playing again, but it will result in the Rams having to play without their top pass catcher.
For the Bengals, it will make what should be a relatively easy matchup even more favorable. The Bengals should defeat the Rams even at full strength. Not having to defend Kupp will simply make game planning a lot simpler.
Kupp has faced the Bengals twice in his career, including the aforementioned Super Bowl meeting that resulted in a win for the Rams. The 2021 Offensive Player of the Year went off in that game, hauling in 220 yards and a touchdown on seven receptions.
Needless to say, the Bengals will not miss playing against him come the night of Monday, September 25.
Bengals’ Week 2 matchup vs. Ravens just got a lot easier
Cincinnati’s division rival will have to deal with a big loss.
