The San Francisco 49ers won't be thinking about the 2024 regular season for a long time.

But their opponents for next season were set on Sunday as the 2023 regular season came to a close.

The Niners will play nine home games and eight away games in 2024, though there is the possibility one could be moved to a neutral site for one of the NFL's International Series games. London would appear the likeliest destination for the Niners, as they hold international marketing rights in the United Kingdom.

49ers' 2024 schedule observations

There's a lot to excite on the home schedule, with a Super Bowl 54 rematch with the Chiefs and meetings with two potential playoff opponents in the Cowboys and Lions. Going into this year's playoffs, the 49ers have still yet to beat Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in a regular season or postseason contest.

San Francisco will face the Patriots at home for the first time since 2016, while a meeting with the New York Jets will mark the first meeting between Kyle Shanahan and his former defensive coordinator Robert Saleh.

He'll renew acquaintances with two former colleagues in Matt LaFleur and Mike McDaniel as part of the 49ers' road schedule, which also sees a meeting with the Buffalo Bills that could be a rematch of this season's Super Bowl.

The 49ers' game with the Packers will be their first in the regular season at Lambeau Field since 2018, while their trip to Hard Rock Stadium to face the Dolphins will be their first time in that stadium since the Super Bowl defeat to the Chiefs. San Francisco last played the Dolphins on the road in 2016.
