Things took a crazy turn in Tennessee on Tuesday, with shocking news being released.
The Titans have fired head coach Mike Vrabel after a 6-11 finish to the 2023 season, the team announced.
Robert Kraft should be paying extra attention to this news, with Vrabel rumored to be one of the top candidates to take over in New England if the Patriots decide to part ways with Bill Belichick.
Vrabel returned to Gillette Stadium in October when he was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame and had a heartfelt message to the fans.
“I want you not to take this organization for granted. I’ve been a lot of places. This is a special place with great leadership, great fans, great direction, great coaching," Vrabel said (via NESN's Zack Cox). "Enjoy it. It’s not like this everywhere.”
And because of this move, Kraft would be able to bring Vrabel back without having to trade or give up anything to get him. He is officially free to go anywhere.
But the situation with Belichick has yet to be decided.
In 2022, Vrabel was named NFL's Coach of the Year and is certainly a top candidate to now hit the market. It's almost certain that one team will take advantage of this. And it could be the Patriots.
Along with getting Vrabel, a team could also be picking up a top running back, with Derrick Henry hitting free agency. And he clearly has a lot of respect for Vrabel.
So wherever Vrabel is headed, Henry might be close behind.
Kraft has a lot to consider over the coming days.
