A year ago this time, Mason Rudolph was home watching the playoffs with the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bit unlike his current teammates, Rudolph's contract was up and he wasn't apart of the team's plans until the NFL passed the emergency 3rd QB rule in the offseason.

Fast forward a year and he's led to the team to the playoffs, yet he finds himself in a similar situation going forward:

All She Wrote?

"I have no idea what is going to happen," said Rudolph when asked about his future with the Steelers. “None of us know what’s going to happen tomorrow. I’m still thinking about the game and the loss and it hurts and it stings…

"… I love the Pittsburgh Steelers. They’ve been my only home for six years. We’ll see what happens. Like I said, it’s not really my decision. A lot of it is outside of my control. We’ll see what happens.”

Rudolph isn't lying when he says the decision is out of his control. Rudolph signed a one-year deal back in may, meaning his time in Pittsburgh has once again come to an end, or at least on paper.

So what happens next is unknown. Rudolph likely thinks he has put enough on tape to compete for a starting job, if not be paid top tier money as a high-end backup.

The question Pittsburgh has to answer is, which category does he fall into within the current structure of their team?
