Well, that is if anyone lays eyes on Jennings.
There's some intrigue ahead of the 49ers' first OTA this week that's open to the media (on Tuesday) and whether or not Jennings will be there.
That's because, according to The Athletic's David Lombardi and Matt Barrows, Jennings hasn't signed his restricted free agent tender yet.
From The Athletic: It’s hard to see the 49ers’ top three receivers — Aiyuk, Samuel and Jauan Jennings — being very active in the early OTA sessions. Jennings, for example, still hasn’t signed his restricted free-agent tender, though that might be done should he report for the offseason program Monday.
Essentially, reporters will be keeping an eye on whether or not Jennings is present this week. If he is, then it likely means that he signed his restricted free agent tender.
Earlier this offseason, the 49ers placed a second round tender on Jennings, a seventh round selection by San Francisco in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The second round tender means that if another team signs Jennings this offseason, they would have to send the 49ers a second round draft pick.
A second round tender pays around $4.89 million. Jennings, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent after the 2024 season, could be seeking an extension with the 49ers — which could be why he hasn't (as of early this week) signed his restricted free agent tender yet. Not signing the tender is the only leverage that Jennings has.
The 49ers drafted Florida Gators wide receiver Ricky Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Pearsall offers a similar skillset as Jennings, so it's possible that San Francisco may not be willing to give the former Vol an extension.
If Jennings doesn't receive an extension from the 49ers, he'll likely play the 2024 season on his second round tender and hope to land a solid deal in free agency next offseason. Plenty of NFL teams would love to have the former Vol on their roster — especially considering the way Jennings plays the game with relentless effort.
