Strengths
- Athletic: Warren is an athletic specimen and will likely test very well. He's got plenty of agility and speed to separate from defenders.
- Physicality: You aren't going to outphysical Warren on the outside. He's got the size and physical build to bang around in the trenches and dominate cornerbacks on the outside.
- Blocking: Warren isn't just a good blocker, he wants to destroy you. He's got a nasty streak in the running game.
Weaknesses
- Experience and consistency: After playing quarterback in high school, Warren still has some growing to do at the position, especially with blocking. He gets a little too aggressive and out of position.
- Hands: Warren has struggled to catch the football far too often. Pro Football Focus has Warren charted with 8 drops on 73 targets in his first three seasons with the Nittany Lions
Player Evaluation
Warren is a fascinating player. He's the latest of the Penn State hyper athletes to come out of Happy Valley. What he provides teams at the next level is a prototype of a true dual-threat tight end that can be a versatile weapon down the field and block in the running game.
He will need some seasoning to truly unlock his potential due to his inexperience at the position, but Warren is a player worth betting on.
Player Comparison
Shades of Dallas Goedert
When you think of Goedert, you see a dual-threat tight end who can attack up the seam and give you full effort in the blocking game. Coming out of South Dakota State, Goedert was much more refined as a blocker but Warren is a better athlete. Put him on the same development plan that the Philadelphia Eagles put Goedert on and watch him thrive.
