On August 2nd, 2026 Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian safety Davon Benjamin is set to make his college decision. The dynamic athlete will be selecting between Oregon, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, USC, and Washington. It’s an impressive list of finalists.

Heading into the decision, the Ducks are still considered to be the leader for the California native. In a recent collaborative prediction piece for the 2026 recruiting class, Rivals national recruiting analysts Adam Gorney, Steve Wiltfong, and Chad Simmons all gave their perspective on where things stand with Benjamin.

Gorney made a strong statement about Oregon’s standing with Benjamin.

“After talking to Benjamin at the Mission Viejo tournament a few weeks ago, I was convinced Michigan was a major threat to land the No. 1 cornerback but it looks like the Wolverines will finish in a close second place,” Gorney said. “Oregon has been the front-runner for years and I’ve been told the Ducks got this one done. We’ll see in a few days.”

Both Wiltfong and Simmons also shared a similar perspective, naming Oregon as the assumed leader. Wiltfong seemed to leave things a little more open ended, but the Ducks were at the top for all three of them. Benjamin would be a tremendous grab for Oregon, and the program is poised for an incredible few days on the trail.

Benjamin currently ranks as the No. 35 overall player, the No. 4 safety, and No. 7 player from the state of California in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247Sports ranking. Him being considered a top-100 player and high end four-star player is pretty consistent across each of the major recruiting platforms.

A long list of impressive suitors had been pursuing Benjamin heavily even before trimming his list. Some do the top schools that have offered include the Ducks, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, USC, Miami, Florida State, Louisville, Michigan State, Washington, UNC, Arizona State, Syracuse, BYU, Cal, UCLA, Purdue, and Mississippi State among others.

Benjamin was a playmaking presence on both sides of the football for Oaks Christian as a junior. On offense, he managed to haul in 34 receptions for 404 yards and two touchdowns. He was also able to record another 464 yards on punt and kick return.

The 5-11, 175-pound athlete, of course, did his best work on the defensive side of the football. As a junior, he was able to collect 45 total tackles, six interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. Benjamin also scored three more touchdowns on defense.
