Philadelphia Eagles second-year cornerback Cooper DeJean was named to the NFL Top 100 Players List last week, coming in at No. 69.
And this week, cornerback Quinyon Mitchell beat him out by landing on the same list at No. 49, officially giving him bragging rights over his teammate. We learned last year that Mitchell, who earned the nickname “Quinyonamo Bay,” enjoys trash talking, so we can’t count on DeJean hearing something from him — even if they are on the same team.
Cooper DeJean Gives Quinyon Mitchell a New Nickname
In a video clip shared by the NFL’s Twitter account honoring Mitchell, DeJean was asked to describe his teammate in one word, but he gave two instead.
“Silent assassin,” DeJean said with a grin. “He’s a quieter guy. He likes to keep to himself. When he’s on the field, it’s like a whole different him comes out. “
Running back Saquon Barkley also gave his thoughts on the Eagles’ former 2024 first-round pick in the clip.
“I didn’t know what to expect because he went to Toledo,” Barkley admitted. “But if you go back and just watch film… film don’t lie.”
It didn’t take long for Mitchell to make an impact with the Eagles as a rookie. He finished Year 1, racking up 46 total tackles, two interceptions, and 12 pass breakups. Quarterbacks completed 54.5 percent of passes and two touchdowns all season versus him in 2024. At the end of the season, he ranked sixth among all NFL cornerbacks (Per PFF) and was named a Defensive Rookie of the Year Finalist along with DeJean.
Mitchell now enters Year 2 with a ton of pressure on him as he’s set to replace Darius Slay, but it’s nothing he has not proven that he can’t handle.
Not to mention that through nine Eagles training camp practices, Mitchell has already intercepted both starting quarterback Jalen Hurts and backup Tanner McKee.
