Notre Dame is working to keep top talent at home from their backyard in the 2027 recruiting class, and from one program specifically
Notre Dame needs to keep top talent at home in 2027.
Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame football program have been on a heater in terms of recruiting, and are currently finishing up an elite 2026 class. We are already seeing their momentum continue in the 2027 class, attracting top talent from all over the country. That includes right in their own backyard.
Chicago has been an interesting area of talent for the Fighting Irish over the years. They have had a lot of success over the program’s history, but it hasn’t been as prevalent recently. That could change in the 2027 class, where Notre Dame is pursuing multiple players from powerhouse Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel.
One name to know is defensive back Tavares Harrington, who has the size and athleticism to play either cornerback or safety on the next level. The 6-3, 175-pound cover man spoke very highly of the Fighting Irish in an interview recently with Rivals national recruiting analyst Greg Smith. That included his relationship with some other key Notre Dame targets.
“That is big time and if they could land some of us that would be huge for the program and would keep our connection,” Harrington told Smith.
One of the targets that Harrington spoke about was his teammate, Mount Carmel wide receiver Quentin Burrell, who is also rated inside of the top 100 for the 2027 recruiting class like Harrington. The 6-3, 175-pound pass catcher is coming off of a dominant sophomore season. Burrell managed to haul in 75 receptions for 1,257 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2024.
Mount Carmel could be a very important program for Notre Dame next cycle.
Harrington also has a personal relationship with 2027 Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice defensive tackle Brayden Parks, who is also a player the Fighting Irish are pursuing. At 6-3 and 305 pounds, Parks boasts the playmaking size that the program needs more of. Schools such as Ohio State, Texas, Oregon, LSU, Ole Miss, USC, Miami, Auburn, and Nebraska have been pursuing Parks heavily.
If Notre Dame is able to land two out of three of Harrington, Burrell, and Parks, that would be a tremendous haul. If they are able to land all three, then Coach Freeman and his staff have a chance to make a massive statement in the city of Chicago in 2027.
