247 Sports released the first edition of their 2028 recruiting rankings this week, highlighting 100 of the top players from across high school football entering their sophomore year. Taking a look at that list won’t be for everyone, especially those that don’t want to feel old. There are some very familiar last names within that group.

One of those names that may be very familiar for some is 2028 Mililani (Hawaii) High School defensive lineman Trison Satele. For all the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, or Las Vegas Raiders fans out there, some antennas are probably beginning to raise. Yes, he is the son of former long time starting offensive lineman Samson Satele.

The older Satele was originally drafted by the Dolphins in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft when coming out of Hawaii. The former Rainbow Warrior star spent a total of eight years in the NFL, playing in 118 total games. Satele managed to start 114 of those games he has been available for, all coming at center. Satele retired following the 2014 NFL season.

In the recent unveiling of the first 247 Sports rankings for the 2028 recruiting class, Satele was rated as the No. 93 overall player, No. 12 defensive lineman, and No. 1 player from the state of Hawaii. It’s notable considering that kids from Hawaii typically go a little under the radar, especially this early in the recruiting process.

The 6-1, 270-pound defender already has an offer list that has been increasing exponentially. Some of the top programs that have offered him include Nebraska, Arizona State, Michigan State, SMU, UCF, Oregon State, Arizona, and Cal among several others.

Despite playing only eight games as a freshman, Satele made his impact known for the Mililani program. He managed to collect 35 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and two forced fumbles. That impact should take a huge step forward going into the 2025 season.

While he is a smaller defensive lineman, Satele is a cat quick interior player with legitimate penetration upside. Based on his early feedback as a recruit, it is unlikely that Hawaii has much of a chance with Satele. It is very likely that his offer list is going to be immense when all is said and done, with ton of options being available.
