The final projection for the Baltimore Ravens’ initial 53-man roster is no small task.

The Baltimore Ravens have completed their final preseason game ahead of the start of the 2025 season, finishing their last ramp-up for this season with a 30-3 victory over the Washington Commanders.

The next step in the preparations for the start of the season is cutting the roster to 53 players. For a team like Baltimore, it’s a daunting task. The Ravens sport ample talent up and down the roster, a byproduct of general manager Eric DeCosta’s persistence in drafting by volume.

With cutdowns looming just a few days away, here is our final prediction for Baltimore’s initial 53-man roster.

Baltimore Ravens 53-man roster prediction

Quarterback: 2

IN: Lamar Jackson, Cooper Rush
OUT: Devin Leary

Lamar Jackson’s injury scare appears to be a whole bunch of nothing, whereas Cooper Rush has gotten plenty of run this preseason as the team’s newly tabbed backup. Behind them, Devin Leary hasn’t shown much life. Given the numbers game challenges throughout the rest of the roster, keeping just two makes sense here.

Running Back: 5

IN: Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, Keaton Mitchell, Rasheen Ali, Patrick Ricard (FB)
OUT: Myles Gaskin, D’Ernest Johnson, Lucas Scott (R)

Rasheen Ali has done enough to play himself onto this roster, in my opinion. The raw numbers aren’t overly efficient but he’s been running with backup blockers and as a result, the process should hold more value than the results. The pecking order of Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell will be interesting to watch in the regular season — but both are certainly safe here behind Derrick Henry. Patrick Ricard is a staple of the smashmouth brand in Baltimore.

Wide Receiver: 6

IN: Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, DeAndre Hopkins, Tylan Wallace, Devontez Walker, LaJohntay Wester (R)
OUT: Anthony Miller, Keith Kirkwood, Malik Cunningham, Jahmal Banks (R), Xavier Guillory (R), Dayt0n Wade

None of this should be overly surprising. The most dramatic part of the 53-man projection for Baltimore’s wide receivers was making sure that the team had enough room for six in total. The math checks out thanks to no third quarterback worth carrying, just three tight ends and managing to keep the offensive line group in single digits. But more on that in just a moment.

Tight End: 3

IN: Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely, Charlie Kolar
OUT: Zaire Mitchell-Paden, Scotty Washington, Baylor Cupp

Likely may or may not be ready for the start of the regular season after foot surgery this summer. But the options for a fourth or, alternatively, putting Likely on the injured reserve with a designation to return, aren’t attractive. Sprinkle in fullback Patrick Ricard’s ability to fill some of the blocking assignments if needed and keeping this group limited to three and hoping Likely gets the green light feels like the proper play.

Offensive Line: 9

IN: Ronnie Stanley, Andrew Vorhees, Tyler Linderbaum, Daniel Faalele, Roger Rosengarten, Joe Noteboom, Ben Cleveland, Carson Vinson (R), Corey Bullock
OUT: Nick Samac, Garrett Dellinger (R), Darrian Dalcourt, Gerad Lichtenhan (R), Jared Penning (R), Reid Holskey (R)
Non-Football Injury List Designation: Emery Jones Jr. (R – Shoulder)

A tough decision looms for the ninth spot for Baltimore’s offensive line. Rookie Emery Jones Jr.’s pre-existing shoulder injury buys Ben Cleveland a reprieve for the cut down and an opportunity to stay on the 53-man roster…for now. The battle between Corey Bullock and Nick Samac is a tough one to call. Bullock has played better this month and earns the call as the last depth player to make the cut.

Defensive Line: 6

IN: Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, Broderick Washington Jr., John Jenkins, Brent Urban, Aeneas Peebles (R)
OUT: Adedayo Odeleye, C.J. Okoye, C.J. Ravenell, Jayson Jones (R)

The top trio for Baltimore up front is well-established. Replacing Michael Pierce at nose tackle will come courtesy of a long in the tooth veteran, John Jenkins. A specialized role is perfect for him this late in his career. Brent Urban serves as a security blanket for playing as a base end and in the B-gap on a rotational basis and rookie Aeneas Peebles could be the next developmental interior rusher to hit for the Ravens.

EDGE Defender: 5

IN: Odafe Oweh, Kyle Van Noy, Tavius Robinson, Mike Green (R), David Ojabo
OUT: Malik Hamm, Kaimon Rucker (R)
IR to Return Designation: Adisa Isaac (Elbow)

David Ojabo survives the chopping block in this scenario, at least for now. The former second-round draft pick appeared to be on the outside looking in until Adisa Isaac suffered a dislocated elbow against Dallas in the second preseason contest. The rest of this collections feels pretty cut and dry, with the Ravens boasting a wily vet in Van Noy, a motivated Oweh in a contract year, and two more young standouts in Tavius Robinson for early downs and Mike Green for long & late downs.

Linebacker: 4

IN: Roquan Smith, Trenton Simpson, Teddye Buchanan (R), Jake Hummel
OUT: Jay Higgins IV (R), William Kwenkeu, Chandler Martin (R)

It hurt to leave Higgins off. It really did. He’s been tremendous in the preseason but the numbers game crunch made it hard to justify carrying five stack linebackers with this year’s roster. Hummel takes the fourth off-ball spot courtesy of his extensive special teams profile — he’s logged over 380 special teams snaps in each of the last two seasons with the Rams. Baltimore will need those snaps and Hummel is proven to be able to fill the role effectively.

Cornerback: 6

IN: Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins, Jaire Alexander, Chidobe Awuzie, T.J. Tampa, Keyon Martin (R)
OUT: Jalyn Armour-Davis, MJ Devonshire Jr., Thomas Graham Jr., Marquise Robinson (R)
Injured Reserve: Robert Longerbeam (R), Bilhal Kone (R)

The decision between Armour-Davis and Keyon Martin was not an easy one — but Martin has long-term appeal as a foil to several years of evidence that Armour-Davis is a depth player only. With veterans like Humphrey, Alexander, and Awuzie as a part of the room, having a promising, flashy corner with several years of player control and upside to buy into served as a tiebreaker amid what is otherwise a very open and shut conversation for candidates for the 53.

Safety: 4

IN: Kyle Hamilton, Malaki Starks (R), Sanoussi Kane, Reuben Lowery (R)
OUT: Beau Brade, Keondre Jackson (R), Desmond Igbinosun (R)
PUP List Designation: Ar’Darius Washington (Achilles)

Reuben Lowery has come in and been excellent for the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee-Chattanooga this summer. He edges out Beau Brade in this exercise to seize the fourth spot in the safety room in a spot that was opened by Ar’Darius Washington’s untimely Achilles injury this spring. Washington can be a player Baltimore keeps in their back pocket thanks to his PUP list designation to open training camp amid his ongoing recovery. Harbaugh suggested this summer that Washington could be back by the sec0nd half of the season.

Specialists: 3

IN: Tyler Loop (R), Jordan Stout, Nick Moore
OUT: N/A

The suspense out of this race disappeared this past week when Harbaugh confirmed that rookie kicker Tyler Loop had won the team’s kicking job — despite not having any direct competition on the roster.
