Ahead of the Buffalo Bills’ final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, general manager Brandon Beane appeared in an interview with Josh Reed from WIVB-TV’s “Bills Kickoff Live,” and gave a cryptic and worrying update on White. While it’s unclear how severe the injury is, Beane’s comments rightfully have the fan base a bit more than a little concerned about what it means for the regular season. He said that White is suffering from a “lower leg injury” and that there is no timeline for White’s return to the field.

“Had a little lower leg injury,” Beane said. We’re not going to say a lot at this point. Hopefully we’ll get him back when we can. At this point, it’s just a matter of getting him through [. . .] He’s getting treatment. We’ll see next week what the timelines are.”

The veteran cornerback joined the Buffalo Bills on a one-year deal in the 2025 offseason. Finding the cornerback that will start opposite Christian Benford in Week 1 of the regular season remains to be seen with White’s uncertainty and first-round pick Maxwell Hairston recovering from his own injury. White had gone down in practice on Thursday and needed a medical cart to assist him up the tunnel.

White has had some lower leg injuries throughout his NFL career. Bills Mafia remembers all too well his unfortunate ACL tear on Thanksgiving of 2021 or his Achilles’ injury in Week 4 of 2023.

During his seven years with the Bills, White started 82 games with 18 interceptions, 68 passes defended, three sacks, with more than 300 combined tackles.

Tre White gets love from HBO’s “Hard Knocks”

The love for White extends beyond just Buffalo and even the NFL. He’s been a welcome addition and a fan-favorite while being featured predominantly on HBO’s “Hard Knocks.” His infectious nature quickly won over the hearts of NFL fans and non-NFL fans alike, and it’s not hard to see why.

With the team having to navigate the near-impossible task of cutting the roster down from 90 to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Aug. 26, this is another wrinkle they’ll have to maneuver. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery. With the Baltimore Ravens heading to Buffalo for the season opener on Sept. 7, we won’t have to wait long for an update on White and his health. For now, light your Josh Allen candles, sing the Shout song, do whatever you do to bring good vibes and good fortune to the organization.
