As the Oregon Ducks prepare to take on Montana State for their season opener on Saturday, August 30th, the coaching staff is at work scouting and evaluating the Bobcats’ roster. While the talent difference between these two teams is immense, the Bobcats still have players on their roster who the Ducks must be ready for come Saturday’s matchup.

Below are key players to watch for Montana State ahead of the anticipated matchup.

Here’s a breakdown of the key players to watch

1. Justin Lamson – Quarterback

A transfer from Stanford, Lamson brings a wealth of experience and a strong arm to the Bobcats’ offense. He recently won the starting quarterback job, and he could prove difficult to defend. Lamson brings a dual threat element to this team, and the Ducks must be ready to defend him when he uses his legs as a rusher.

2. Adam Jones – Running Back

Adam Jones is one of the most explosive backs in FCS and was named Freshman of the Year for the Big Sky last season. Jones is a dynamic runner with good vision, patience, and balance. Expect a heavy dose of Jones on Saturday as the Bobcats look to establish a running game early on the road.

3. Titan Fleischmann – Offensive Tackle

Fleischmann’s experience and leadership on the offensive line provide stability and protection for the offense. Last season, Fleischmann was an FCS All-American and started all 16 games at right tackle for the Bobcats. He has excellent size, length, and power, and can be a dominant blocker up front. He will have his hands full facing off Oregon’s elite pass rush, but Fleischmann is a player whom the Ducks must respect.

4. Paul Brott – Defensive Tackle

Brott is a highly productive interior defender who excels in run defense. He has excellent power and can eat up gaps playing the 3 technique in the Bobcats’ defense. Brott has good initial quickness off the ball and can get upfield to disrupt the quarterback. The Ducks’ offensive line must be ready to deal with Brott for the full game as he plays with a relentless motor.

5. Kenneth Eiden IV – Defensive End

A preseason All-American, Eiden IV is the Bobcats’ best pass rusher and one of the best players on the team. He is excellent at getting to the quarterback and displays excellent hand use and an array of pass rush moves to keep offensive tackles on their toes. Eiden IV lacks length and quickness, but he plays very hard and is very powerful at the point of attack.
