The Ohio State Buckeyes open their season with a huge test at home as they host the No. 1 Texas Longhorns.

Meanwhile, Ohio State’s biggest rival, the Michigan Wolverines, will start their season by hosting New Mexico in a game that isn’t exactly circled on the calendar. Nonetheless, it will mark the debut of star freshman Bryce Underwood.

As Michigan prepares for its opener, it seems one Wolverine already has Ohio State on his mind.

Michigan starter already thinking about Ohio State

One Michigan starter was asked how he flips the switch from hitting teammates in practice to facing players from New Mexico. That’s when the Buckeyes came up.

“You know, how I look at it is, they got the same colors as f****** Ohio State,” Michigan starting safety Brandyn Hillman said recently.

Hillman, a true junior, is stepping into a starting role for the first time this season. He recorded one tackle against Ohio State last year when the Wolverines traveled to Columbus.

The rivalry never sleeps. These two programs are constantly thinking about beating one another. While Ohio State won a national championship last year, they also lost to the Wolverines for the fourth straight time. If there’s one blemish on Ryan Day’s career in Columbus, it’s his struggles against Michigan. The Buckeyes will have to end that streak on the road this season.

Hillman’s comment shouldn’t come as a surprise—it’s part of the rivalry’s fire. Still, comparing Ohio State to New Mexico is a bit of an apples-to-oranges stretch.
