Dallas Cowboys will have some intriguing pass rush options to replace All-Pro Micah Parsons as they navigate an uncertain future
Free agent additions the Dallas Cowboys should consider following the 2025 NFL season
After months of tension between the Dallas Cowboys and All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys staff agreed to send the former Penn State star to the Green Bay Packers. They received two future first round selections and Kenny Clark in exchange for Parsons. The organization has received a lot of negative feedback for the move, and deservedly so.
With Parsons no longer a part of the future plans, the Cowboys are going to need to figure out what their pass rush will look like moving forward. Following the 2025 NFL season, there is an intriguing group of pass rushers who are set to hit free agency. Dallas may have some interesting options to consider.
Trey Hendrickson (Cincinnati Bengals)
For the second straight offseason, Hendrickson and his future in Cincinnati is going to be discussed extensively after the season. Playing on a one-year deal, the former FAU star is betting on himself a lot in 2025. Over the last two seasons, nobody has been better getting after the quarterback in the NFL, collecting 35 sacks. With Hendrickson being 31 years old next offseason, this is his last big payday, and every pass rush needy team will have high interest potentially.
Nik Bonitto (Denver Broncos)
The former Oklahoma standout is coming off a dominant season in 2026, and will be just 26 years old when he hits free agency. If he has a season like he did again (13.5 sacks, 16 TFLs, 24 quarterback hits), Bonitto is going to break the bank. The demand will be high, but Bonitto does fit the standup rushing role at 6-3 and 240 pounds that Parsons also fills.
Khalil Mack (Los Angeles Chargers)
Mack has been one of the league’s best sack artists since coming into the NFL back in 2014. With him being 35 years old next season, his career is coming to an end. Mack has, however, still been a productive pass rusher. If the Cowboys want to go the veteran route, he could be an interesting short-term addition. In his 11-year career, Mack has managed to collect 107 sacks.
Haason Reddick (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
After an outstanding four-year stretch of rushing the passer, Reddick had a season to forget for the New York Jets in 2024. The former Temple star is now tasked with proving that he is still the high-volume sack artist who has managed 59 sacks in his career. Reddick will be 31 years old next offseason, so this will be his chance to try and cash in on the payday he has been hoping for.
Joey Bosa (Buffalo Bills)
Bosa has dealt with a ton of injuries over the last several years, and there is a good chance that he never gets back to his younger form. He signed a one-year deal with the Bills this offseason, and Bosa is hoping for a huge bounceback season. With 72 sacks in his career, Bosa has had some huge moments, but the long-term uncertainty is very real. Will the 6-5, 280-pound pass rusher get one more solid contract, or is he very near the end?
Jaelan Phillips (Miami Dolphins)
After being selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Phillips has had some flashy moments but has dealt a lot with various injuries. That background could make him a bit of a bargain depending on how well he plays in 2025. The 6-5, 263-pound pass rusher is about as talented as you will find, but can he put it all together?
Kwity Paye (Indianapolis Colts)
Paye has been a solid player, collecting more than six sacks in each of the last three seasons. He hasn’t quite lived up to his billing coming out of Michigan, but there is still developmental upside for when he hits the free agency market at just 27 years old. Paye is an explosive pass rusher who could be a nice value play to bet on traits.
Malcolm Koonce (Las Vegas Raiders)
Koonce had a bit of a breakout season for the Raiders in 2023, collecting eight sacks, nine tackles for losses, and 17 quarterback hits. His 2024 season was lost due to injury, which led to a one-year prove-it deal to return to Las Vegas. If Koonce is able to get back to his form, he still has a chance to get a nice little payday next offseason.
The former Penn State pass rusher has had some flashy moments in his career for the Ravens, but he had a bit of a breakout season in 2024 after collecting 10 sacks. Could the Cowboys replace one former Nittany Lion defender for another? Oweh will be just 27 years old after the season, so there is still some developmental upside to tap into.
