Justin Jefferson is well respected by his peers but is still massively underrated
It’s amazing how Justin Jefferson continues to be underrated no matter where you look.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson ranked ninth in the NFL’s top 100 players going into the 2025 season.
The list is voted on by the players in the league. The criteria is relatively simple: players list their top 20 players in order, with first place getting 20 points, second place getting 19, and so on. The league collects all the ballots and the rankings are made.
Justin Jefferson is underrated on NFL’s top 100 list
The selection of Jefferson in the NFL’s top 100 lands the Vikings with four players on the list, joining running back Aaron Jones at 98, edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel at 88, and edge rusher Jonathan Greenard at 48.
The selection of Jefferson marks his fifth time making the list, with his highest ranking being second going into the 2023 season. Going into last season, Jefferson ranked 18th, which is mainly due to missing seven games due to a hamstring injury.
Ranking ninth in itself isn’t that bad, but Jefferson is arguably the best player in the league. It’s rather low for someone of his caliber. What’s more surprising is that he is the second wide receiver and five spots behind Ja’Marr Chase at fourth.
It’s wild to see his peers not rank Jefferson higher, but there is an explanation for that. Players often don’t watch film of teams that they don’t play, which can make the voting a little more difficult and uneven, as they would like it to be. However, there isn’t a much better process that they can use.
As things sit, Jefferson is still ranked as a top 10 player in the NFL, and that’s impressive.
