The Tennessee Vols could be the recipient of some good news in the not-too-distant future thanks to the Virginia Tech Hokies’ decision to fire head coach Brent Pry.

Virginia Tech fired Pry on Sunday after the Hokies got off to a 0-3 start this season.

Pry, who previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Penn State Nittany Lions, was in his fourth season as the Hokies’ head coach. Virginia Tech only had one winning season under Pry.

The Vols could swipe one of the Hokies’ 2026 football commits

2026 four-star edge rusher Andrew Rogers has been committed to Virginia Tech since last month.

Rogers, who is teammates at Grimsley High School with five-star Vols quarterback commit Faizon Brandon, canceled his visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend so he could check out Tennessee instead.

“I feel great about Tennessee, and I can 1000% see me and my family living there,” said Rogers to On3 after his visit to Tennessee. “Of course, I can see myself playing there as well. Tennessee is up there with Virginia Tech, if not higher.”

Rogers, 6-6, 240 pounds from Greensboro, NC, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 32 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 18 player in the state of North Carolina.

With Pry no longer at Virginia Tech, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before Rogers flips to Tennessee.
