The Detroit Lions had a killer win against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, and we’ve spent 95 percent of our coverage talking about how great it was. Now, it’s time to spend five percent of the time talking about some of the issues the Lions had and how they need to get these things cleaned up before their matchup with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.

Lions have to capitalize on turnovers

The Lions forced a fumble in the second quarter and then stalled out on their drive after that. Then, on the ensuing Bears drive, the Lions forced a turnover on downs, and that resulted in a missed field goal. Then, Kerby Joseph picked off Caleb Williams, and the Lions turned that into a touchdown.

This game was over after the first half for the most part, but it could have been super over had the Lions taken advantage of the extra possessions they got. We’re taking the difference between 28 points and 42 points. The Ravens offense is tough. You get the ball out of their hands, you need to score.

Third down efficiency

This one got really lost in the mix, but the Lions didn’t have the best third-down performance in this game. They went four-of-10 on third down. There’s no way you can be perfect here, but they have to do better than 40 percent against the Ravens’ defense. That understandably will be difficult to do.

Interior blocking

There’s no doubt that this was a way, way better outing for the Lions’ offensive line, but there were still multiple times that Jared Goff had to navigate pressure that came from the middle, and the run game seemed to really live on the outside and have all its success there.

The Ravens have a strong interior presence on their defensive line, and it will bring a big challenge. Let’s see if the improvement continues.
