Thursday Night Football will feature a showdown of divisional rivals as the Miami Dolphins travel to Orchard Park, New York, to take on the Buffalo Bills.

Leading up to the game, the talk of the town has been the availability of Matt Milano and Ed Oliver. Oliver suffered an ankle injury before the Week 2 contest against the Jets and has since been out. Milano got hurt toward the end of the Jets game with a now-confirmed pectoral injury.

Head coach Sean McDermott spoke to WGR550 in Buffalo ahead of the last day of practice for Buffalo before the contest, and that’s where McDermott confirmed the status of both Milano and Oliver. Both are officially ruled out of the game against Miami.

Next man up for the Buffalo Bills

In Milano’s absence, the team could look to give Shaq Thompson some increased reps at the position, although the linebacker hasn’t been cleared to play yet. If Thompson were unable to go, it would fall on Dorian Williams or fan-favorite Joe Andreessen to get some increased reps.

It’s back-to-back weeks with key defensive players missing time, but there is a reason to be excited for the upcoming game. In the team’s Week 2 victory against the Jets, despite Oliver being out, the team rallied and made life difficult for Justin Fields, and will hope to do the same with Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Miami has been struggling mightily, with talks of Mike McDaniel being replaced or the team being forced to go into a rebuild if they get blown out by Buffalo on the road.

Josh Allen is a man on a mission against the Dolphins

With Miami trying to save its season, Allen will do his best to shut down their hopes of walking out of Orchard Park with a victory. The high-powered offense will look to capitalize on the early-season struggles from Miami, all the while trying to secure the victory to remain on top of the AFC East.

Wins aren’t a quarterback stat, but the team and Allen have a six-game win streak going against Miami heading into the matchup. In 15 games against Miami, Allen has over 4,000 passing yards and 45 total touchdowns. Allen has been a one-man wrecking crew on the football field against the Fins.

No Oliver or Milano, and some question marks with some other limited players like Cam Lewis and Taron Johnson will surely make life just a little more difficult for the Bills on defense.

If the comeback victory in Week 1 against the Ravens taught fans anything, the Bills will always have a chance at victory with Allen at quarterback, despite who may be out on defense.
