Elite offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, a five-star standout from Georgetown Prep in Baltimore, Maryland, made his way to Tiger Stadium on Saturday to catch the LSU Tigers’ heated SEC clash against the Florida Gators.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle in the class of 2026, Iheanacho pledged his future to Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks back in August. Yet, that hasn’t deterred the LSU staff from mounting an aggressive recruitment campaign to sway him.

Even as he stays true to his Oregon commitment—for now—Iheanacho plans to attend several Ducks games before the Early Signing Period in December.

Top Recruit Immanuel Iheanacho Eyes LSU Amid Oregon Commitment

“I expected it to be good, but it was better than good,” Iheanacho said after his weekend trip to Baton Rouge. “It was an outstanding visit. The game-day atmosphere is something I have never experienced. The fourth-quarter chants, how loud the stadium can get — it’s different. It was packed, no empty spots, and the fans were electric. The visit was better than I thought it would be.”

Still, he admits LSU’s relentless pursuit is gaining ground, fueled by the electric atmosphere at Death Valley and his growing bonds with the Baton Rouge coaching crew. At this point, sources say, the Tigers are as strong a contender as they could hope to be.

Over the last half-year, the 6-foot-6, 320-pound lineman has crisscrossed the country for three LSU visits: a spring scouting trip, an official outing with his family in June, and this weekend’s electric SEC season opener.

Central to LSU’s strategy is offensive line coach Brad Davis, whose expertise and personal touch have clearly resonated with Iheanacho. “Coach Davis has not given up on me,” Iheanacho said. “He still respects my commitment to Oregon and what they are doing with me, but he is headhunting. He still wants me. Coach Davis is not giving up.”

Rivals’ top recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong recently broke down the Tigers’ flip potential during his ‘Wiltfong Whiparound’ segment with Josh Newberg, highlighting the intrigue in this high-stakes battle.

“LSU is the program that remains the biggest threat to the Ducks,” Wiltfong said. “They were the runner-up the first time around when he made his decision. LSU will work to get him back to campus.”

The momentum shows no signs of slowing: Insiders report Iheanacho is slated for another Baton Rouge return trip later this fall. In the meantime, he’ll head to Happy Valley in two weeks to watch Penn State take on Oregon. He’s also locked in plans to visit Eugene for the Ducks’ showdowns with Wisconsin and USC down the line.
