A massive recruiting domino fell on Friday, and it could lead to some huge news for the Tennessee Vols in the not-too-distant future.

On3’s Chad Simmons reported on Friday that 2027 five-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman has decommitted from the Oregon Ducks.

Bowman, 6-1, 175 pounds from Brentwood, TN, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 6 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 36 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

“I just wanted to explore a little bit more with my options,” said Bowman to On3 about his decision to decommit from Oregon. “When I committed to Oregon, other schools started recruiting me harder, and I do think it was a little too early for me to commit.”

Tennessee is a real threat to land Kesean Bowman’s commitment

Former Vols linebacker Kevin Simon said this week on 99.1 The Sports Animal that Bowman has “orange in his sights.”

“I think some good things are going to happen in Tennessee,” said Simon. “I know Kesean Bowman, who’s committed to Oregon, you know, he’s starting to feel a little different. He’s starting to feel the love from Tennessee. So, we’ll see…..He’s got orange in his sights.”

Simon has some unique insight into Bowman’s recruitment because his son, Kenneth, who is also being recruited by Tennessee, is a high school teammate of Bowman at Brentwood Academy.

The five-star wide receiver was at Tennessee this past weekend for the Vols’ overtime loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Bowman told On3 that he was impressed by Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell’s big game against Georgia last weekend (six receptions for 177 yards and three touchdowns).

“Watching Chris Brazzell have himself a day stood out,” said Bowman to On3 after the visit. Bowman also added that he “likes Tennessee a lot.”

Miami, Texas, LSU, Vanderbilt, and Ohio State are also in the mix for Bowman.

Tennessee should be viewed as the favorite for Bowman, but the Buckeyes will certainly loom as a large threat in this recruiting battle. The next several months will be crucial for Tennessee if it is to land Bowman.

‘The narrative that he doesn’t want to play, or that he’s sitting out, is unfair’ – Vols insider clears the air on key defensive player

The Tennessee Vols aren’t sure when cornerback Jermod McCoy will return to action. McCoy hasn’t played yet this season after suffering a torn ACL while training during the offseason. The uncertainty surrounding McCoy’s status has led to some speculation that he’s sitting out before entering the 2026 NFL Draft (McCoy is projected to be a […]
