Former All-SEC LB says David Gabriel Georges is a combo of 3 elite and very different running backs that every NFL fan knows very well
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges is one of the most coveted recruits in the nation, and Tennessee and Ohio State are both hoping to land him.
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges is so talented that Ohio State and Tennessee are both willing to pay him over $1 million annually despite the fact he’s never taken a snap in college.
Gabriel Georges, a native of Canada, is set to be a senior at Baylor School in Chattanooga this fall.
The five-star recruit is viewed as a can’t-miss prospect by nearly everyone who’s seen him up close — including former Florida and South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp.
“Will would still come around some to watch practice after he left Georgia full-time and was doing some scouting last year,” said Baylor School head coach Erik Kimrey to On3. “Last August (before DGG’s junior season), Will was out there with his phone, videoing David. He sent the video to Kirby (Smart) and said, ‘Hey, I just want you to know that this kid could play for you right now.’ And then he looked at me and said, ‘He would start at Georgia today.’”
Gabriel Georges isn’t just big, and he’s not just fast. He has elite vision, he studies film, and he has great instincts, too.
Baylor School assistant coach Eric Westmoreland, a former All-SEC linebacker at Tennessee, told Chris Low that Gabriel Georges reminds him a little of Adrian Peterson, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Jamal Lewis.
“Eric Westmoreland has been there at Baylor for two decades as a coach,” said Low on WNML’s Josh and Swain this week. “Eric was an All-SEC player at Tennessee — he played four years in NFL. He played with Jamal Lewis. He played with Travis Henry, and he said that he has not seen one like this kid since probably Jamal. In fact, he said he’s got a little bit of Jamal in him, a little bit of Jahmyr Gibbs, and a little bit of Adrian Peterson in the different things that he does.”
Lewis was a bruising running back who would just run over defenders. Peterson was a violent downhill runner who could cut once and be off to the races. Gibbs is a one cut and go type of back as well, but he is also extremely dangerous as a receiver.
Those are three elite running backs. And Westmoreland has watched a ton of high school talent come through the ranks over the last 20 years — his opinion has a lot of value.
So yeah, this Gabriel Georges kid has a real chance to be a superstar in the NFL.
Now, those are obviously high expectations, but Gabriel Georges understands that. And he’s not letting those expectations impact the way he plays.
“He loves the grind,” said Low. “He loves the work part of it — putting in the work and getting up early and working out. And training his body like it’s truly a temple. I mean, the kid doesn’t eat junk food. … He knows what the expectations are. He understands that clearly, that everyone is going to be watching and that he’s going to be under the microscope.”
Gabriel Georges hasn’t accomplished anything yet at the college level, so all the noise is just that at this point — noise. But the talent is there. The work ethic is there. And the desire is there.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re looking up in a few years and Gabriel Georges is getting selected No. 1 overall in everyone’s fantasy football drafts.
