In the NFL, there is no such thing as a bad win. You will take one every Sunday, whether it’s against a defeated or undefeated team. So the Pittsburgh Steelers going into Foxborough and getting a win against the New England Patriots for the first time in 17 years is to be applauded.

However, what is often overlooked is that the process in the NFL is indicative of future results. And the process behind the Steelers’ offense the last two weeks has been downright bad. Aaron Rodgers even admitted that after the win on Sunday:

“They’ve been taking it on the chin a little bit, I think, the last couple of weeks, and didn’t really appreciate it,” Rodgers told Evan Washburn of CBS after the game. “They came out and played incredibly. We were terrible on offense after the first two drives. I didn’t have a good game, but the defense every time kept us in it. The defense won the game. This was a classic Blitzburgh performance. Hats off to those guys.”

Rodgers rips Steelers’ offense in win over Patriots

Here’s the bottom line. You cannot turn a team over five times and only win by seven points. You can’t force five turnovers and have to rely on a game-winning TD throw from Rodgers to Calvin Austin III and a game-sealing tackle by Brandin Echols.

I know Rodgers took the blame, but that’s just quarterback speak. The Steelers don’t win that game if not for his two darts to DK Metcalf and Austin. Sure, he had a horrible interception, but yet again, the offensive line was an issue.

If it wasn’t Harold Landry in the backfield, it was the inability to get vertical in the run game after the first drive. It was better on the ground, but it was still a mere 65 yards rushing when the clock hit zero in Foxborough.

The bottom line is that the Steelers will have to improve quickly on offense. They are traveling across the globe to take on a Minnesota Vikings team that may boast the best defense in the league.

They will lose if they play like that again.
