One of the big reasons why fans are excited about the future of the Tennessee Vols football program is because of 2026 five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon.
Brandon, a 6-4, 200-pound player from Greensboro, NC, has been committed to Tennessee for over a year. He’s rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
The North Carolina native is from the same city as former Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker.
College football assistant makes strong statement about Tennessee Vols 5-star QB commit Faizon Brandon
Various college football assistants recently spoke with The Athletic about their favorite quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class, and one assistant — a Power-4 director of player personnel — named Brandon as his top quarterback recruit.
The director of player personnel pointed out that there’s not much difference between Brandon’s highlight tape and his game tape.
“I would say my favorite one in the class is probably Faizon Brandon,” said the director of player personnel. “I just think that talent-wise, he’s the best. I don’t know the kid, but just from a football ability standpoint, it’s really hard to find something that he’s not good at on tape, and I can see why he’s ranked as high as he is. Sometimes with those quarterbacks, they’re ranked super high off of upside, but for him, I see a really high floor. It’s just really hard for me to find something on tape that he can’t do well. Even on the game tape, too. There’s not much of a difference between the game tape and the highlight (reel), which is certainly what you want.”
Additionally, a Power-4 recruiting coordinator said that Brandon might be the quarterback in the 2026 class that’s the most ready to start right away, because “he’s just so talented.”
It certainly sounds like the Vols have a future SEC star on their hands in Brandon. There’s plenty of talent on the way to Rocky Top. Tennessee currently has the nation’s No. 8 2026 recruiting class.
