Family of Tennessee Vols commit David Gabriel Georges calls out a wrong that needed to be addressed
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges committed to the Tennessee Volunteers on July 22.
2027 Tennessee Vols commit David Gabriel Georges showed last Friday night on just two carries why he’s rated as a five-star running back.
The Quebec native received two carries in Baylor School’s scrimmage against Buford and he wowed with both of them.
Gabriel Georges’ first touch was a 54-yard touchdown run. On his only other touch, he carried most of Buford’s team about 10 or 12 yards down the field before he was finally tackled.
That was against one of the top five high school football teams in the nation.
Gabriel Georges looks like a can’t-miss prospect a la Adrian Peterson or Derrick Henry. He’s a man among boys, and he might be the best overall high school football player on the planet.
Somehow, though, Gabriel Georges isn’t rated by 247Sports or On3 as the No. 1 2027 running back in the nation.
That honor goes to Kemon Spell, a Georgia Bulldogs commit.
Spell is an elite player who has the potential to be a star in the NFL.
But he hasn’t done anything that suggests he should be ranked above Gabriel Georges.
And Gabriel Georges’ uncle let everyone know how he feels about that on Monday night via social media.
“Been #1 since youth league,” tweeted Gabriel Georges’ uncle. “Calling him the #2 back in the country on any platform is insane. It’s my job to say it out loud.”
Recruiting rankings are subjective, and there usually isn’t a “right answer” — no one can ever be certain how a high school player will perform once they get to college.
But every now and then a can’t-miss player comes along. Gabriel Georges is one of those players.
