Oregon defensive back Brandon Finney Jr. trips up Penn State running back Nicholas Singleton as the Oregon Ducks face the Penn State Nittany Lions on Sept. 27, 2025, at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pennsylvania.

Oregon picked up a signature double-overtime win in hostile territory, and with it came a reshuffling of expectations and narratives. In this edition of “Stock Up / Stock Down,” we break down who rose and who’s under the microscope after the Ducks outlasted Penn State in a 30–24 thriller. Between clutch defense, offensive resolve, and individual breakouts, this game gave us a lot to chew on – so let’s dig into who’s earning the praise and who might need to tighten up before the next test.

Stock Up

Bear Alexander

Alexander, the highly coveted transfer from USC, had his best game as a Duck on Saturday against Penn State. He was disruptive and could penetrate the Nittany Lions’ backfield, showcasing his first-step quickness and burst. He finished the game with five tackles, including two for loss. He was a massive reason Penn State’s offense couldn’t get going.

Brandon Finney

Maybe one of the most underrated storylines of this season for the Oregon Ducks has been the play of true freshman corner Brandon Finney. Finney, a former five-star recruit, joined the Ducks’ program with immense potential and talent. He quickly earned a starting role and has been the Ducks’ best corner since the start of the season. He had his best game of the season against Penn State and locked down his side of the field. Finney was also nailed in the run game and showed fearlessness when triggering in the run game.

Gary Bryant Jr.

Bryant Jr. has been a reliable target for Dante Moore and the Oregon Ducks all season. He has come up clutch down the field and has consistently showcased his ability to create big plays after the catch. While defenses spend their attention game planning against Dakorien Moore and Kenyon Sadiq, Bryant Jr. has been able to win one-on-one matchups all season.

Stock Down

Isaiah World

A projected first-round pick when he transferred to Oregon from Nevada, World has been a bit inconsistent this season. He flashes impressive athleticism and length, but his anchor in the passing game has been a bit of a liability. Additionally, World has committed several holding penalties on key downs. He must continue to improve to live up to his lofty draft expectations.
