The 2025 season is still young, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are facing their most important game of the year, so far.

Last week handed the Bucs their first loss of the season and now they have to hit the road and travel cross-country to take on the Seattle Seahawks, winners of three straight games and a team that looks to be hitting its stride as October gets going.

Tampa Bay is dealing with new injuries to guys like Bucky Irving and Jamel Dean, but still have a talented enough roster to win this game. Make no mistake, however. It won’t be easy.

So, with all that being said, let’s dive into A to Z Sports’ final score predictions for the Bucs’ matchup with the Seahawks in Week 5.

Seahawks 26, Buccaneers 20

This is a really tough matchup for the Buccaneers, but it’s winnable. However, I don’t think a win is what happens on Sunday.

Starting on defense, the Bucs will be without three key pieces in the secondary as Jamel Dean, Benjamin Morrison, and Christian Izien are already ruled out. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is developing into one of the NFL’s best wideouts, Cooper Kupp can still play and fifth-round rookie Tory Horton has already flashed big-play ability on multiple occasions. Sam Darnold should have success through the air, especially if Kenneth Walker III gets going.

Speaking of which, the Bucs can slow down the ‘Hawks passing attack if they shut down the run game. Seattle is a heavy personnel, run-first team that needs the ground game to be effective for the offense to work as a whole. This is where the Bucs defense can really turn the tide in their favor and I think they’ll be able to do so. At the same time, I don’t think they’ll be able to make enough plays against Darnold and Co. to where they completely shut down the offense.

Who knows what the Bucs offense is going to look like without Irving. It certainly won’t be as explosive and the Seahawks currently boast one of the league’s best defenses. Mike Macdonald will have his guys ready and it’ll be up to Baker Mayfield to make the magic happen.

There’s also the Bucs special teams, which are a complete wild card, right now. There are just too many questions in each phase and ultimately, it’ll be too much against an efficient offense, a well-rounded defense, and one of the NFL’s toughest environments to play in.

Seahawks 24, Bucs 20

I think the Buccaneers’ attempt to come from behind against the defending champions showed the mental toughness and merit of the squad in Tampa Bay. That being said, there are no moral victories in the league, and that start was rough for Tampa. Now, the Bucs are injured on both sides. The team is also without one of the better backs in the league, as Bucky Irving has been in a walking boot all week.

Against an inferior opponent, I would still ride with the Buccaneers. But I watched in full what the Seahawks did to the 3-1 Steelers in Week 2, and it wasn’t pretty. Josh Jobe is quietly becoming one of the league’s better corners, and Klint Kubiak’s wide zone, play-action scheme is starting to take shape in Seattle. The Bucs will fight, but the injuries and home-field advantage propel the Seahawks in this one.

Seahawks 23, Bucs 17

The injuries for Tampa Bay continue to be the concern, but losing Bucky Irving is really the (rotted) cherry on top. Irving had a great game against the Eagles in Week 4 and proved yet again that he’s incredibly explosive. If he misses, alongside multiple OL injuries and some defensive question marks, it feels like Seattle has some distinct advantages this weekend.

Sam Darnold has been efficient at quarterback for the Seahawks, and they have one of the most aggressive defenses in football. Their defensive line is arguably the best in the NFC right now. Won’t surprise me if Baker Mayfield is feeling plenty of heat during this matchup. Give me the Seahawks, but the Bucs refuse to let any lead prevent them getting back into a game. It’ll be a close finish.
