As Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell said before this week, Miami Hurricanes week is a 365-day prep. So, when that fails, it has to hurt. Norvell started his postgame presser with a special message to the fans.

“You know, just to start off, for our fan base, you know, our university, you know, I’m sorry for the outcome. You know, I know how much it means, this game means to our team, to the individuals, coaches, players, everybody involved, past players, you know, to our program. And this is a game that there is so much excitement around, excitement for,” Norvell told reporters.

“To come up short in this one is just utterly disappointing in every way. You know, I thought our guys they battled. We just had too many mistakes. Miami did a good job. They did what they needed to do to win the game. They protected the football. Hit some explosive plays. You know, and then I thought our guys just fell behind early.”

Seminoles fans don’t want to hear Norvell’s apology

The special message is sweet, and you can tell he really, truly means it. Norvell loves the university, and he loves being a coach. However, the fan base probably doesn’t care about this message. In fact, they may be tired of hearing it.

After going 2-10 last season, and now he starts this season, as soon as they play anyone that’s not an FCS school, outside of the Alabama Crimson Tide, they start to fold under pressure. And that’s on Norvell, even if it is the players not playing well. It’s the head coach’s job to get them up to a certain standard, and he didn’t do that, especially in the first three quarters.

The Seminoles have to figure something out because that loss is one that basically kills their playoff chances based on how good Miami is playing.
