The Minnesota Vikings’ matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles is getting closer and closer, which means more information is coming out.

Defensive coordinator Brian Flores is going to have his hands full with Jalen Hurts, but his scheme is perfect to neutralize him. Outside of that, head coach Kevin O’Connell is taking on Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, and that chess match is a fantastic one.

The second injury report is out, and the Vikings have mixed news coming from it.

Observations

  • J.J. McCarthy, having a second consecutive day of limited practice, is a tough one. It makes it much more likely that Carson Wentz is going to be the starter on Sunday afternoon.
  • Jackson improving to a full participant likely means that he will be returning to the lineup after missing the last two games due to wrist surgery.
  • Cashman just had his 21-day practice window opened, and a full practice nearly six weeks removed from his hamstring injury is a great sign, especially for the run defense.
  • Darrisaw got his rest day, but Greenard, appearing on the report with a hamstring, is out of left field. If he misses the game, that could be devastating to the Vikings’ defense.

Observations

  • Of all the injuries, the biggest is to Carter. He regressed to being a limited participant in practice. Now, it could be something or nothing. The Eagles very well could be holding out Carter of all drills to give him rest. Friday’s practice will be massive.
  • Mitchell showing improvement is massive for the Eagles. He is not only their best outside cornerback, but the only one that Fangio can rely upon consistently. If he is a full participant on Friday, that will end up being huge for the Eagles.
