Browns WR Jerry Jeudy just got hit with rough news where it’ll hurt ahead of facing the Dolphins
The Browns’ star wideout hit with some bad news from the NFL.
The Cleveland Browns are averaging just under 14 points per game this season, which ranks last in the NFL. There’s plenty of blame to go around for how ineffective this offense has been for the 1-5 Browns. Quarterback play has been an obvious issue, but the offensive line and wide receivers have struggled as well. Top wideout Jerry Jeudy hasn’t had the season he’d hoped for so far, and he just received some rough news from the NFL.
Jerry Jeudy fined after dust-up with Steelers’ Joey Porter Jr.
Jeudy has been fined $12,172 for an unnecessary roughness penalty against the Steelers. He connected with a left-handed strike to Porter in the first quarter of the Browns’ 23-9 loss. Jeudy wasn’t the only one fined — tight end David Njoku was also fined $14,491 for an obscene gesture in the fourth quarter. Jeudy and Porter got tangled up multiple times throughout the game, and the Steelers cornerback’s game plan clearly worked.
“That’s my game plan. I like to trash-talk, so any opportunity I can get to get under a guy’s skin, I’m gonna do that for sure,” Porter said after the game. “I feel like it was working. I know he knows it was working. So I’m gonna keep doing that every time, especially when I see him again.”
Jeudy finished with five catches for 43 yards in the loss to Pittsburgh. After a Pro Bowl season last year, he’s off to a slow start in 2025 with 240 receiving yards and zero touchdowns through six games. Cleveland’s top receiver already has seven drops this season — not good enough for a player the Browns need to be their clear-cut No. 1 option.
Sunday will present Jeudy and the Browns with a big opportunity to finally get back in the win column against the 1-5 Miami Dolphins. The weather may not allow for a big passing day, which could work in favor of Cleveland’s defense. Nonetheless, it’s been an unfortunate week for both Jeudy and Njoku heading into the matchup.
