Browns Pro Bowler’s admission after beating the Dolphins gives a look into the state of how the locker room feels

The Browns really needed that win and there is no sugar coating it.

A win can heal a lot of things, and in sports, that’s especially true. The Cleveland Browns had just one win heading into their Week 7 game against the Miami Dolphins, and things weren’t feeling great about the state of the team. Cleveland came out and handed the Dolphins a 31-6 loss, and the win has things feeling a little better — at least for the time being.

Cleveland was always looking at a tough start to this season. Looking back, the Browns probably should have beaten the Cincinnati Bengals and even the Minnesota Vikings, but living in “could haves” isn’t the way to go. Despite sitting at 2-5, the Browns are going to keep fighting this season, and a recent comment from the longest-tenured player on the team points to that.

Joel Bitonio’s comment gives a look into how the Browns are feeling

“We never lost faith. We obviously have been so frustrated with the way things were turning out, but the guys have been working,” Bitonio said after the win over Miami. “There has not been any complaining in that sense. It was complaining and frustration because we were losing games, but not in the people we have in the building and the people we have here. But we already talked about it. We have to find a way to stack this win. We can’t just win a game and then move onto the next one — we have to find a way to stack this.”

That echoes what Myles Garrett said after the win about this being just the foundation for the team — that they need to build off of it with more wins. Good teams can stack wins, and the Browns haven’t done that since 2023. Last season, Cleveland won just three games and didn’t win any back-to-back. The Browns will have a chance to change that when they face the New England Patriots next weekend before their bye week.

Losing is frustrating, and the rate at which the Browns have done it over the past two seasons can really take a toll on a team. If the Browns had continued on the path they were on through the first six weeks of the season, there undoubtedly would have been jobs lost as a result. This isn’t to say the Browns are about to rattle off multiple wins now, but Sunday was at least a start — and an opportunity.

The Browns have an elite defense, and they’ve leaned on it this season and will continue to do so. But at some point, the offense is going to have to step up and score points like they did against the Dolphins. Cleveland’s key to more wins couldn’t be simpler: they need to better complement their defense with points on the board.
