The Kansas City Chiefs got bads news on rookie DT Omarr Norman-Lott’s knee injury after the Week 7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Andy Reid revealed after the game that Norman-Lott would have an MRI to reveal the extent of his injury. Those MRI results have no been revealed and the answer isn’t a good one. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Norman-Lott suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the remainder of the 2025 NFL season.

Norman-Lott’s rookie season has been marred by injury with an ankle injury costing him one week and a shoulder injury costing him another week. Now, he’ll miss the remainder of the 2025 NFL season with the knee injury. His rookie season stats will read five games played, one start, five total tackles, and one sack.

This injury sets back an already-struggling Chiefs defensive line group

The Chiefs could hardly afford this injury as Norman-Lott, in his limited snaps, had proven himself to be the team’s best interior defensive line option outside of star DT Chris Jones. Right now, the team is extremely limited on depth, with just three interior defensive linemen on the 53-man roster. Once they place Norman-Lott on injured reserve, expect them to promote one of the three interior defensive linemen they have on the practice squad to the active roster.

Chiefs’ Interior Defensive Line Depth Breakdown:

  • Chris Jones (53-man)
  • Derrick Nnadi (53-man)
  • Jerry Tillery (53-man)
  • Marlon Tuipulotu (Practice Squad)
  • Brodric Martin (Practice Squad)
  • Zacch Pickens (Practice Squad)

Based on what we saw when Norman-Lott was ruled out during Week 1 and Week 5, that player could be either Tuipulotu or Martin. It’s also possible that the defensive tackle position becomes an even bigger trade target for Kansas City ahead of the NFL’s Tuesday, Nov. 4 trade deadline.
