If there’s one thing Aaron Rodgers learned during his time as a backup quarterback in the NFL, it was that he didn’t have control over how the Green Bay Packers managed the transition from Brett Favre. So when the time came to make a transition from Rodgers, the veteran quarterback made sure to treat Jordan Love the right way.

The two quarterbacks spent three years together in Green Bay and developed a close connection. Ahead of their first matchup on Sunday, Rodgers said that Love would be his priority for a jersey swap after the Packers-Steelers game.

“The top of my list would be J-Love,” Rodgers said on a Zoom call with Green Bay media on Thursday.

Emotional week

Despite the tension over Rodgers’ final years with the Packers, the quarterback still has positive feelings toward the organization. After all, it was a long and special tenure.

“I feel so good about my time there, because damn near everything great in my life is because of my football career,” Rodgers said. “My football career starts and will end one day with Green Bay. I got a lot of love for all those memories.”

Even though Sunday will be an emotional night for both sides, Rodgers thinks the game will have a more normal feeling because it’s in Pittsburgh.

“This one would mean a lot more if it was in Lambeau,” Rodgers explained, “just because of the affection I have for that place, the hallowed ground of Lambeau Field, and all the amazing memories that I have there over the years.”

Aaron Rodgers arrived in Green Bay at 21 and spent 18 years with the Packers. There, he built a Hall of Fame career. Sunday will be a game full of emoticons, but nothing will be bigger than what Rodgers constructed through almost two decades with the franchise.
