The Buffalo Bills are making their final preparations for the upcoming Week 8 contest against the Carolina Panthers. After consecutive losses to the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons, fans are clamoring for some change to the offense and defense.

Buffalo has been tied to a host of receivers like Saints’ Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave, and Las Vegas receiver Jakobi Meyers. However, it’s Tennessee Titans receiver Calvin Ridley who has recently been named as a potential fit for Buffalo, with the trade deadline rapidly approaching.

Vinnie Iyer from The Sporting News broke down why Buffalo makes the most sense for the veteran receiver, giving quarterback Josh Allen yet another weapon at his disposal.

“Ridley is hurt for now (hamstring) but he’s being lost in the Titans’ youth movement passing game around No. 1 overall pick rookie QB Cam Ward,” Iver wrote. “Ridley would make more sense attached to a QB in Josh Allen who can push the ball deep well to him and also make him a red zone priority, much like he was during his young heyday with the Falcons.” – Vinnie Iyer

Buffalo makes perfect sense for Calvin Ridley

Tennessee is currently struggling at 1-6 and in the midst of a rebuild, which could be looking for that all-too-valuable draft capital with a trade to Buffalo. It’s not to say that everything is coming up sunshine for Ridley, who is battling through a hamstring injury. However, there’s no indication that the injury would keep him out long-term.

Despite some struggles this season, Ridley has over 1,000 yards in each of the past two seasons, with plenty of gas left in the tank. The veteran could be moved as he may not be part of the team’s long-term plans, with rookie Cam Ward and the team looking to the future after an abysmal start.

The Bills don’t have a true No. 1 receiver with Keon Coleman not quite living up to the offseason hype as of late, and Josh Palmer is considered week-to-week with an injury, leaving the offense without some key firepower heading into Week 8.

If Palmer’s injury lingers, it could be the catalyst for Buffalo to make a move at the deadline. While Ridley isn’t the splash player that Olave would be, he would still be a fun addition to the current Bills’ offense.
