Broncos’ Bo Nix pulls off unprecedented NFL feat that shows he’s becoming the franchise quarterback Denver needed
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix continues to silence the critics, and his fourth-quarter against the New York Giants did much more than just that.
The Denver Broncos pulled off a thrilling comeback victory against the New York Giants, specifically in the fourth quarter. Some Mile High magic allowed quarterback Bo Nix to lead the offense to a 33-point final frame, securing the victory and the top spot in the AFC West.
Denver is hoping to continue its hot streak against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8, with Broncos Country needing to wait just hours until kickoff. Before we get to the Cowboys coverage, let’s take a moment to appreciate Nix’s greatness in what he accomplished in the closing moments.
Nix, despite only being in his second season, has cemented his place in NFL history. He became the first player to have two passing and two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The dual-threat playmaker put it all out on the line for his team and walked out with a victory.
Not even elite quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, or Josh Allen have done that. It’s a stat line that stands alone in over 100 years of NFL football.
Nix continues to silence the critics
Do you “Bo”lieve in the offense and the second-year quarterback because you should. Despite some early-season woes and the team still trying to find its identity on offense, Nix continues to show up in big moments to help lead the team to victory.
It goes without saying that Denver’s defense has been phenomenal, which takes some pressure off Nix. Outside of leading the league in sacks, Denver’s defensive backfield has been elite, with cornerbacks Riley Moss and Pat Surtain locking down defenders, while edge rushers Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper apply heavy pressure up front. It’s been beautiful to watch the defense work.
Regardless, the second-year signal-caller has been instrumental in the team sitting atop the AFC West, with some brilliant fourth-quarter magic not only against the Giants but in the win against the Philadelphia Eagles as well.
In the final frame against the Giants, Nix had 219 total yards in overcoming the 19-point deficit. Against the Eagles, Nix had 126 passing yards with one touchdown but led the team on three-for-three scoring drives. Even if it’s not pretty and even if the team waits far too long to get going, Nix and the offense have been magical in the fourth quarter.
Performances like that don’t happen by accident. Nix didn’t just make NFL history; he reminded everyone in the league that Denver has its franchise quarterback.
