Colts place star player on the IR forcing him to miss an upcoming tough part of their schedule
Colts will be without a key starter for at least the next four games.
Bad news for the Indianapolis Colts just got incredibly worse. The team announced that star DT DeForest Buckner would miss their Week 10 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons in Germany. But now head coach Shane Steichen shared that it won’t just be a one-week absence for Buckner, with the team planning on placing him on the IR.
Colts place DeForest Buckner on IR ahead of Week 10 matchup

Buckner is one of, if not the team’s top overall player. He is second on the team in sacks with four and leads the team in tackles for loss with nine. The Colts’ defense just hit a major boost trading for CB Sauce Gardner, but now it takes a major hit losing Buckner. Steichen shared that Buckner suffered a neck injury in their Week 9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. And now he will be forced to miss at least the team’s next four games.
This means the earliest he could return for the Colts is Week 15 against the Seattle Seahawks. So he will miss at least the team’s games vs. the Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now the team will turn to Adetomiwa Adebawore to start in Buckner’s place. A big opportunity for the young player to show that the flashes he’s shown in a limited role can translate to a legit starter role.
